Lower Extremity Wounds: The Basics (Parts 1, 2 & 3)
Lower extremity wounds can be hard to tell apart. In this 3-part session we will focus on venous, arterial, and neuropathic wounds. We’ll discuss the causative factors, pathophysiology, appearance and the principles of management. During this session, we will also discuss the different types of compression and selecting the appropriate compression therapy based on the lower extremity assessment.

Unnas Boot Application Demonstration
Wound Care Education Instructor Cindy Broadus RN demonstrates the application of an Unnas Boot. The Unnas Boot is what is called a “short stretch” which will help a patient establish blood flow up out of the lower extremities. In order for it to be effective, the boot will need the patient to work along with it. Cindy explains what is meant by the patient working along with the Unnas Boot. It is also important to note the proper application of the Unnas Boot and its functionality.
