• Venous, Arterial and Neuropathic Ulcers of the Lower Extremity: Topical Adjunctive Therapy Part 1

  This presentation will highlight ulcers of the lower extremity in patients with neuropathy, arterial insufficiency, and venous insufficiency.  Evidence-based practice regarding wound bed preparation, topical dressings, and adjunctive therapy (total contact casting and intermittent pneumatic compression therapy) will be discussed.  Application of a total contact cast and intermittent pneumatic compression therapy will be demonstrated.  Audience participation will be encouraged.

  pressure ulcer occurrence and impacts wound healing and tissue regeneration, while providing a closer look at protein and the physiological effects of protein energy malnutrition in the elderly.  Updated published clinical outcome data on the effects of increased protein on wound healing will also be presented.

  bariatric patients have additional factors and co-morbidities that can challenge even the
  most seasoned wound care professional.  This session focuses on skin integrity of bariatric

  suggestions for preventing and treating them.  The physiological requirements and
  complications of wound healing associated with obesity will be discussed, accompanied by
