National Alliance of Wound Care® Certifies over 10,000 WCC®s

The National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC®) announced that it reached a milestone with its WCC credential.  Effective today, NAWC certified over 10,000 WCCs since it began offering the accredited WCC certification in 2003.  “The WCC credential is the most popular among clinicians and now ranks clearly as the leading wound care certification in the United States”, said Debbie Hecker RN, MBA, WCC, and Executive Director.
The overwhelming popularity of the WCC credential is attributed to several factors, including the huge demand for more certified clinicians in the wound care market as well as its multi-discipline nature. The WCC is available to those licensed healthcare professionals who participate on the wound care team.   As one recent WCC put it, “The WCC is a valuable and highly regarded credential that fit my lifestyle.”
In addition to the WCC credential, the NAWC recently introduced an advanced specialty certification in the growing field of diabetic wounds. Certified wound care professionals can now take their careers to the next level. The DWC is the first advanced credential in the specialty of diabetic wounds and opens the door for advancement to thousands of certified wound care clinicians. NAWC hopes to certify more than 800 individuals with the DWC credential next year. The certification will commence in February 2011.
The National Alliance of Wound Care intends to continue its growth of both certifications as well as other new opportunities that will benefit all WCCs and the wound care market at large.
